Opponents’ Wide Receivers
Clemson’s secondary doesn't face a lot of high powered passing offenses this season. In fact, Phil Steele has the Tigers playing only five of the top 50 wide receiver corps in the country (SC 15, FSU 18, NC State 28, Louisville 34 and Syracuse 43). Here are the top wide outs Clemson will have to defend this season:

Jaylen Samuels NC State
Samuels is one of the top athletes Clemson will see this season. He is an All-ACC candidate who serves the Wolfpack in a variety of roles. Last season he caught 55 passes for 565 yards and seven touchdowns. Against Clemson last season he had nine receptions for 100 yards. He is one of just three players to have 100 yards receiving against Clemson last season.

Stephen Louis NCState
Louis is a 6-2, 217-pound junior who had a solid sophomore season with 35 catches for 678 yards and two scores. In Death Valley last year he had three catches for 31 yards.

Ervin Phillips Syracuse
Syracuse throws it often, and Phillips is its leading returning receiver. Last season he had 90 receptions for 822 yards and six scores including eight for 48 yards in Death Valley.

Cam Phillips Virginia Tech
Phillips is the second leading returning receiver in the ACC this season after catching 76 balls for 963 yards and five scores a season ago. Against Clemson, in the ACC title game, he had 12 catches for 92 yards.

Jaylen Smith Louisville
The Cardinals lost a lot of productivity from a season ago but their leading returning wide out is Smith. He had 27 receptions for 599 yards and six touchdowns as a sophomore. This big target had four catches for 54 yards in Death Valley last season.

Auden Tate FSU
Tate is the taller target for the Seminoles this season. As a junior, he had 25 catches for 409 yards and six scores. Clemson held Tate to just one catch for 23 yards in Doak Campbell last season.

Nyqwan Murray FSU
Murray was a surprise for FSU last season when he caught 27 passes for 441 yards and five touchdowns. He was the go to guy against the Tigers when he had six catches for 96 yards and a score.

Deebo Samuel South Carolina
Samuel was the leading receiver for the Gamecocks last season when he caught 59 passes for 783 yards but only one for a touchdown. Clemson held the rising junior to just four receptions for 14 yards.

Bryan Edwards South Carolina
Edwards enjoyed a solid freshman season in Columbia with 44 receptions for 590 yards and four scores. He had only one catch against Clemson a season ago when he scored on a 33-yard trick play from Samuel.
