Notre Dame Tix

Notre Dame Tix

I realized that I was a fanatic many years ago and the older I get, the more I realize that not everyone is like me or believes what I believe.

Years ago I tried to fight a battle to have Clemson students fill up the student section and stay for a large majority of every game. I lost that one.

Later I tried to fight the pass out policy at halftime when the third quarters were dead in the first five minutes because so many fans went out to their cars to eat and drink during the break. I lost that one as well.

The embarrassing Woo Hoo deal is another losing battle that I know realize I will never win.

Clemson basketball attendance is another tombstone in my soapbox graveyard.

Sometimes I feel like a Republican in Hollywood. I know I can't win.

But here is one more that I will fight and I hope you will join with me on this one.

PLEASE DON'T SELL YOUR TICKETS TO A NOTRE DAME FAN

I know the game is at eight o'clock, and I realize we have some older fans who just can't make the night games.

I know some of our fans have young children at home and can't afford the babysitter to stay until the late morning hours.

I know many of our fans value the Sunday church service and getting home Sunday morning make it difficult.

And I certainly know many of our fans have financial issues and selling their tickets could help out their bottom lines.

I am not here to bash our elderly fans or our parents of young children or our religious fan base or those that live on a tight budget.

I do realize that many of our fans will have to sell their tickets to the Notre Dame game.

HOWEVER, IF YOU DO SELL YOUR TICKETS, PLEASE CONSIDER SELLING THEM TO A CLEMSON FAN

If you don't have to sell your tickets, I don't how you could. How could you miss perhaps the biggest game in the history of Death Valley?

I am always depressed at the number of Duke or North Carolina fans that buy tickets from Clemson fans in Littlejohn during basketball season. Quite frankly it is embarrassing, but this is Clemson football.

Our stadium is one of the most difficult places to play in this country. If 20,000 Notre Dame fans are in the seats, the home field advantage is minimized.

ABC will broadcast this game on national TV, and some predict it will be perhaps the highest rated game in the country this season. It would look bad if 20,000 fans were wearing gold and either blue or green instead of orange.

Recruits will be in attendance, and many more will be watching on TV. Let's have them marvel at our fan base, not the visitors.

The story is Clemson. This is our chance to shine. This is our chance to showcase our people, our fans, our stadium, our Rock, our Hill, our atmosphere. The story should not be Notre Dame's fan base taking over our stadium.

I am lucky to have two tickets and very lucky to have a job and my health. I don't have to sell my tickets next week. I will cherish the memory of this game as I have so many before it. As a nine-year-old, I am glad we didn't sell our tickets the last time Notre Dame came to town. I hope I am around to see the next time the Irish visit and hope I am fortunate enough to get a ticket and healthy enough to attend.

and his staff have worked hard to get this program in the top 10. This is a historical matchup. This is one for the ages.

If you don't have to sell your tickets, please fight the urge to make a quick buck. If you do have to sell your tickets, please consider selling them to a Tiger.

I hope I don't lose this one.
