Hill Named Walter Camp All-American

CLEMSON -- Clemson cornerback Tye Hill has been named a first-team

All-American by the Walter Camp Foundation. The Walter Camp team is

one of the five major All-America teams recognized by the NCAA in its compilation of consensus All-Americans. Hill will be honored at a banquet in New Haven, CT in February.

Hill is the 14th different Clemson player to be named a first-team All-American by the Walter Camp Foundation, the first

since Keith Adams was named as a linebacker in 2000. William Perry

(1983 and 1984) is the only Tiger to be a two-time selection.

Hill is the first Clemson defensive back named to the team since the

1988 season when Donnell Woolford was named. Terry Kinard (1982)

is the only other defensive back to be named a first-team selection by the Walter Camp Foundation.

Hill was one of the big reasons Clemson ranked 13th in the nation in scoring defense and in the top 25 in pass efficiency defense. He led the team in passes defended with 10, including three interceptions. He had 53 total tackles, including 41 first hits. He had five tackles for loss, most ever by a Clemson cornerback.
