, a rising sophomore guard for the men’s basketball team, tore his Achilles tendon during a conditioning drill and is expected to miss anywhere from six to eight months of action. Coleman averaged 6.8 points per game over Clemson’s last eight contests, which included a team-high and season-best 15 points in the season finale against Virginia Tech in the ACC Tournament. He appeared in 22 games as a freshman in 2011-12.

“It’s been an unfortunate offseason for Devin,” said Clemson Head Coach Brad Brownell. “He had just come off a hip/groin injury. It’s also tough because he finished last season on such a positive note, and had been shooting the ball very well this summer. We know Devin will attack his rehab with the right attitude, and we certainly wish him a speedy recovery.

“The other players at his position have to look at this as an opportunity to step up in his absence.”
