Clemson 2015 defensive tackle commit Christian Wilkins and his Suffield Academy teammates lost to Williston Northampton 51-48 on Sunday afternoon in the state finals in Class A basketball.
Wilkins finished the game with an impressive 21 points (15 points in the 2nd half) and 12 rebounds in his final high school basketball game. “There is no gameplan against him unfortunately,” Coach Michael Shelton told masslive.com, “He’s 290 pounds of grown man. We tried to do a couple different things: double teaming him, fronting him – but when he gets his hands on the ball its gonna be two points because he’s a really talented basketball player.” Williston Northampton had the strategy of not letting Wilkins beat them on the offensive boards. “We had to focus on no second chances,” senior guard Ryan Richmond said of the defensive strategy, “and playing without fouling because we wanted to limit the amount of touches (Wilkins) got.”
