Clemson commitment Sammy Watkins was a member of the South Squad in the 22nd John Carrigan Rotary South All-Star Classic on Wednesday. Watkins was one of 64 players from Lee County’s top high school seniors to participate in the All-Star Game.
The North team prevailed 20-14 over the South team. Watkins caught three passes for 35 yards and rushed six times for 51 yards. He also had a 25 yard punt return during the game. The Classic’s banquet was held Dec. 13 at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Fort Myers. Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel was the guest speaker. Watkins will play in his final high school game at the US Army All-American Bowl on Jan 8th.
