DeAndre McDaniel is one of the nation's top rated safety prospects. McDaniel is committed to Clemson, but he says he will take all five of his official visits.
"I am committed to Clemson. I will still take my official visits. Taking my visits is not a knock on Clemson. I want to see what is out there. It is going to be very difficult for someone to overtake Clemson. I really like the situation with Clemson."
"Coach Swinney knows I will be taking visits. He wants me to come up for the game against Florida State, and then take my official visit the weekend they have their banquet. I told him I should be able to do that."
McDaniel is looking at Louisville, Southern Cal, and Florida State as potential visits. The Seminoles appear to be the immediate threat to Clemson.
"I liked FSU a lot growing up. Their safeties are graduating, so I would have a chance to play early, like at Clemson. Early playing time is important to me. FSU is my second choice behind Clemson right now, but I expect to sign with Clemson."
McDaniel leads a Godby team that has six or seven Division 1-A prospects.
"We are off to a good start, 3-1. We are working towards making the playoffs, so we have a chance to win state. We are as good as anybody in this state, when we put it all together."
