Allen Bailey - Defensive Line
Height: 6-4   Weight: 255   Hometown: Darien, GA (McIntosh County Academy HS)   Class: 2006
ESPN: NR

Last summer, Clemson secured two verbal commitments from two of the country's top defensive end prospects, Ricky Sapp and Jamie Cumbie. The Tigers are working to put themselves in position with one of the premier defensive ends in the country for 2007.

Allen Bailey of Darien, Georgia is simply a monster. Anyone who has scene film on Bailey has offered on the spot.

Bailey was in attendance for the Clemson's Orange and White game on Saturday.

"It was a good trip. The game was pretty much controlled by the defense. Clemson has a lot of speed on the field, and they should have a pretty good defense this year. Their defensive line could have put some big hits on the quarterback, if the quarterbacks had been full contact."

Defensive coordinator Vic Koenning is recruiting Bailey for the Tigers, and the two had a chance to talk on Saturday.

"Coach Koenning is recruiting me to play the bandit position. He said they had a player, who could have been a first round pick in the draft this year, but he came back to school for his senior year. He also had Demarcus Ware, who was a first round pick by the Cowboys. He explained how they would best use my talents on the field and put me in a position to make a lot of plays."

The trip to Clemson was the second trip on the week for Bailey. Bailey had visited Florida during the week.

"The Florida trip went well. I sat down with Coach (Urban) Meyer. Coach Meyer made sure I knew that I was needed there and that I was a top priority for them."

The Gators and Tigers appear likely to candidates to see Bailey again during the 2006 season.

"I am working on getting more unofficial visits before I decide where to go on my official visits. I am going to Miami next weekend. The stadiums at Florida and Clemson were both impressive, and I hope I can go to games at both of them this year."

Bailey did not cite favorites, but Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Clemson are believed to be the early favorites.
