4-star 2020 linebacker Sergio Allen from Fort Valley, GA (Peach County) has committed to Clemson on Thursday while on an unofficial visit with his mother.
"Some people may think I'm too young, some people may think it's not the right choice...From the first time I came on to this campus, I felt something special... A sense of FAMILY," Allen posted on Twitter. "A sense of BROTHERHOOD! I felt the best sense of them all and that's A HOME AWAY FROM HOME! I know I can't please everyone but I'm okay with that because the LORD will always love me. With that being said I would like to officially announce my COMMITMENT TO CLEMSON UNIVERSITY!!" Clemson coaches Brent Venables and Todd Bates are recruiters of record for the standout defender. "I told Coach (Todd) Bates and I told Coach (Brent) Venables and we headed back to the meeting that they were having," Allen told TigerNet. "Kind of sounded like a game. Everybody started yelling congratulations. I felt a warm welcome. Everybody came and gave me a hug and told me welcome to the family. Dabo was all smiles and said he was glad to have me and I'm just ready to start recruiting for the class now." Allen had early national offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU, Michigan, Mississippi, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and several others. He visited Clemson on an unofficial visit to watch Clemson defeat Auburn 14-6 last season. He also was impressive at last summer's Dabo Swinney Football camp. TigerNet was on hand to watch him at The Opening Atlanta in March and he was a solid performer. In 2017, he registered 114 tackles and 13 sacks. During his freshman season, he had 57 tackles including five tackles for loss. PAW JOURNEY?? @CoachToddBates @CoachVenables @AnnaH247 @PEACH_FOOTBALL pic.twitter.com/Lleg5SRxsT
