4-star 2017 defensive end Malik Herring from Forsyth, GA (Mary Persons HS) has Clemson in his top group on Sunday according to his Twitter account.

Herring's top group consists of Clemson, Alabama, USC, MTSU, UGA, UT, and LSU.

It appears that Herring's recent trip to Clemson for the 2016 Dabo Swinney Football camp has paid dividends as the Tigers are now one of the frontrunners in his recruitment.

The consensus 4-star recruit has early offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, California, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCLA, and USC.

In 2015, he had 74 tackles including 21 for loss, seven sacks, four pass deflections, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

He missed a majority of the 2014 season with an ACL tear in his left knee but appears to have fully recovered.
