3-star 2016 defensive back Tony Butler from Lakewood, Ohio (St. Edward HS) will visit Clemson on Monday morning.
Butler told TigerNet.com that he would be arriving in Clemson around 10:30 or 11 AM EST. He told us this afternoon that he had a "really nice visit" to Clemson and got to see "everything." He was able to spend time with some of the Clemson coaching staff including defensive back coach Mike Reed and defensive coordinator Brent Venables. "The coaching staff was real down to earth." He also enjoyed looking at the football facilities that Clemson offers prospective recruits. "The Hill was amazing and the facilities are really nice at Clemson." We also spoke with Butler when he received his Clemson offer back on 7/14/15. "It's a huge offer, and words can't describe how happy I am." Butler said that Clemson defensive back coach Mike Reed has already made a big impression. "The coaching staff is cool, Coach Reed was very honest with me and just told me that he feels like I'm the real deal, and I can make an impact early. But I'm going to have to want it and want to get better every day. He didn't promise me anything." The 3-star recruit said that Clemson is recruiting him as a cornerback. As a junior, Butler had 27 tackles, ten pass deflections, three interceptions and a forced fumble. His top four schools are Clemson, Rutgers, Michigan and Arizona State.
