NFL.com's Mock Draft has Two Tigers as Top 13 picks |
NFL.com released its 2016 NFL Mock Draft 4.0 recently, and two Clemson defenders were listed in the first thirteen overall picks.
Clemson along with Ohio State (RB Ezekiel Elliott, DE Joey Bosa) and Ole Miss (OT Laremy Tunsil, WR Laquon Treadwell) had the distinction of having two players projected in the first thirteen picks. The non-Clemson ACC selections (3) in the first round of the Mock Draft were Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey (#1 overall), Notre Dame offensive lineman Ronnie Stanley (#8 overall) and defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins (#14 overall). Defensive end Shaq Lawson was forecasted to the Chicago Bears at the #11th selection. "John Fox loves edge defenders with nasty temperaments and solid technical skills." NFL.com said. Lawson finished the season with 86 tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss (first in the nation), 12.5 sacks and 15 quarterback hurries.
Defensive end Kevin Dodd with his impressive three-sack performance in the National Championship game was predicted to go in the first round to the Miami Dolphins at the #8 selection.
"Despite adding Mario Williams to the front line, the Dolphins need to add a young, energetic edge defender to the rotation to spell Cameron Wake." NFL.com said.
Dodd had a breakout 2015 season with 62 tackles, 12 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss (second in the nation).
Clemson defensive back Mackensie Alexander was not listed in NFL.com's first round projection.
