Monte Lee picks up baseball transfer

by - Staff Writer -

Clemson head coach Monte Lee picked up a little help Sunday with the addition of graduate transfer Weston Jackson of Presbyterian.

Jackson is a Greenville (SC) Eastside alum and started at Presbyterian for four seasons, and he can play either outfield or second base. Clemson second baseman Weston Wilson was drafted by the Brewers this weekend and is expected to sign a professional contract.

Last season, Jackson hit .341 in 57 games (57 started). He scored 47 runs, accounted for 55 RBI and hit 10 home runs. He had a .613 slugging percentage and .419 on-base percentage. He walked 29 times and struck out 43 times in 217 plate appearances. He was 2-for-4 against Clemson earlier this year.

In 2015, Jackson started the first 11 games before suffering an injury, but hit .395 (17-for-43) with seven doubles and 11 RBI.

In 2014, he played in 39 games (29 in the outfield, nine as a designated hitter), he hit .300 on the season overall (third among lineup regulars) and hit a team-best .307 in Big South Conference play. He registered a .372 on-base percentage overall and a team-leading .357 on-base percentage in Big South Conference play.
