already has experience playing in the same backfield with one “C.J.” He’s looking forward to doing it again. The Titans selected Harper, a 5-foot-11, 235-pound running back out of Clemson, in the fourth round on Saturday and envision him as an ideal candidate for a one-two punch situation with Chris Johnson. “You want to keep people fresh so that every time you look up, you keep pressure on the defense,” Titans running backs coach Jim Skipper said. “It’s kind of like comparing a racecar driver when they come into the pit stop and switch tires — brand new tires on.” It wasn’t so long ago that Harper was playing alongside

, the former star Clemson running back who was a first-round pick of the Bills in 2010. “To be up there with a guy like (Chris Johnson) is sort of like being with CJ (Spiller) at Clemson,” Harper said. “It’s a blessing. Just being up there with (Johnson) and watching him, the way he carries the ball and the dynamic he brings to the game, he is just crazy.” Harper isn’t just a big bruiser. He’s got decent speed as well, evidenced by the 4.53 40-yard dash he ran at his pro day. Maybe just as significantly, Harper has good hands. He caught 35 passes for 328 yards and three touchdowns as a senior, after catching just 15 total passes in his previous two seasons. “You’re always trying to better yourself every way possible,” Harper said. “Being able to run routes fluidly — out of the backfield, in the slot, from the outside, just being able to be a complete dynamic player … Last year that’s kind of what Clemson wanted out of me a little bit more and that’s what I was striving to put my potential toward.”
