Former Clemson linebacker B.J. Goodson was drafted #109 overall by the New York Giants in the fourth round (11th pick of round) of the 2016 NFL Draft on Saturday afternoon.

ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay said that Goodson was one of his five best players remaining on his board.

"People were expecting him not to test well, and he surprised everyone running a 4.69 and having a 35 inch vertical and 9-10 broad jump," McShay said. "He is 6-1, 242 lbs and tough, physical and instinctive. Every time I watched that Clemson tape he was around the football making plays."

ESPN NFL analyst Louis Riddick had the following to say about Goodson's future with the Giants.

"This is a three-position player in a 4-3 defense," Goodson said. "He can play the Mike. He can play the Sam. He can play the Will. He is going to be able to play the Mike or the Will in your sub defense. He will come downhill, and he will strike. I mean he will snap the head back of an offensive lineman in a minute."

Goodson had a breakout senior season with 105 tackles, 5.5 sacks, two interceptions and two pass deflections.

He had an impressive 17 tackles combined in the two College Football Playoff games for Clemson. He was also impressive at the NFL Combine with 30 bench press reps that led all linebackers.

Goodson is the fifth Clemson player drafted which is tied for most by Clemson in the first four rounds of the NFL draft in the common draft era (also 2011, 1991).
