Gainesville to name street 'Deshaun Watson Drive'

by - Assoc. Editor -

Back-to-back Heisman finalist Deshaun Watson has had a stellar career in three years at Clemson. However, his superstar play started back at Gainesville high school as a Red Elephant where he holds the career passing yards record in Georgia and won the Class 6A title in 2012.

The city of Gainesville has a proposal on the table for Jan. 17, 2017 to rename a street close to Gainesville high school's football field called 'Touchdown Drive' to 'Deshaun Watson Drive' according to the AJC.

This would be a great honor for Watson as his local hometown celebrates his achievements the last several years.

For the season, Watson has completed 329 of 487 passes for 3914 yards and 37 touchdowns. He ranks fourth in the nation in completions, fifth in touchdown passes and eighth in completion percentage and eighth in total offense. His 37 touchdown passes are a Clemson season record.
