Former Clemson DB out for the season |
Former Clemson defensive back and New York Jets safety
Marcus Gilchrist suffered a season-ending torn patella tendon injury against the San Franscisco 49ers on Sunday.
Gilchrist suffered the injury on the opening kickoff of the second half when his right knee buckled cutting on a non-contact situation. He was seen in terrible pain and was carted off the field. "It sucks when you lose a leader," rookie linebacker Darron Lee said via NJ Advance Media. "He's a mentor. He's been a mentor since the first day I got here. And he's a leader on this defense." Gilchrist had 55 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble this season. For his NFL career, he had 383 tackles, four forced fumbles and 10 interceptions.
