CLEMSON — Clemson football fans will gather for Cocky’s “funeral” and pep rally Friday, the day before the Clemson Tigers meet the South Carolina Gamecocks at Death Valley.

The funeral and pep rally will begin at 5 p.m. in the WestZone parking lot outside the stadium. The Gamecock’s eulogy will be delivered by Col. Sandy Edge, president of the Alumni Association and the director of advising for Clemson’s College of Business.

This year’s funeral will have a tailgate theme, featuring local band The Blue Ridge Bandits, as well as a the Rally Cats and the Clemson Cheerleaders.

The funeral procession will include Edge and Student Alumni Council representatives Ellen Featherstone and Anna Pieper. The Tiger Platoon will act as pallbearers. Following the eulogy, the stuffed gamecock will be rolled away and cremated.

The first 300 people attending will receive free Chick-Fil-A sandwiches, according to Thomas Shirley, operations officer of Tiger Platoon.
