Clemson rout lowers TV ratings for Russell Athletic Bowl

The Clemson 40-6 rout of Oklahoma in the 2014 Russell Athletic Bowl had 4.9 million viewers on ESPN on Dec. 29. This was down 15% from last year's Louisville-Miami contest (5.7 Million).
The Russell Athletic Bowl was the second highest rated cable telecast on Dec. 29 besides the Texas Bowl featuring Texas and Arkansas which aired on ESPN at 9 PM.
However, the 2014 Russell Athletic Bowl did beat popular shows such as WWE Monday Night RAW, Street Outlaws, Major Crimes and House Hunters.
