Clemson ranked #1 in ACC Power Rankings

by - Assoc. Editor -

ESPN has released its latest article on Sunday and the Clemson football team is the new #1 team in ESPN's ACC power rankings and #14th in their national power rankings.

Georgia Tech fell from the top spot after losing to Notre Dame 30-22.

Clemson defeated Louisville 20-17 on Thursday night in Kentucky to jump the Yellow Jackets in the power rankings. The Cardinals slipped all the way down to the #12th spot with the 0-3 record.

"Sure, it wasn’t an entirely perfect performance for the Tigers, as Deshaun Watson threw two interceptions and Louisville kept things close throughout," ESPN said. "Still, a conference road game on short rest is never easy, and Wayne Gallman's stellar performance (24 carries, 139 yards) was made all the more impressive given that Clemson was without its starting center."

The rest of the ACC power rankings include Florida State (#2), Georgia Tech (#3), Miami (#4), NC State (#5), Virginia Tech (#6T), North Carolina (#6), Pittsburgh (#8T), Duke (#8T), Syracuse (#10), Boston College (#11), Louisville (#12), Wake Forest (#13) and Virginia (#14).

Clemson has had four straight 10-win seasons, a first for the program since Clemson had four straight 10-win seasons between 1987-90 and it also the first time the Tigers have won three straight bowl games since 1986-90.
