CLEMSON, S.C. — Elijah Thomas, a 6-9 post player who most recently played at Texas A&M, has signed a financial aid agreement to transfer to Clemson. Head coach Brad Brownell made the announcement Thursday. Thomas enrolled in spring semester classes Wednesday and will be eligible to compete for the Tigers in December 2016.

“I am extremely excited about the addition of Elijah Thomas to our basketball family,” Brownell said. “He is a very talented player who won a high school state championship in Texas and competed successfully at the highest levels of AAU basketball. He has excellent hands and a very good skill set for a young man of his size. His addition, along with Shelton Mitchell, Marcquise Reed and Scott Spencer, certainly makes for a bright future for Clemson basketball.”

A native of Lancaster, Texas, Thomas appeared in eight games for an average of 9.9 minutes per contest for the Aggies this season. He averaged 3.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 63 percent from the field. His top game was in his debut, when he produced 11 points and five rebounds against USC Upstate.

Thomas was one of ESPN’s top 50 rated prospects among the class of 2015. He was ESPN’s No. 2 prospect in the state of Texas, and was the No. 6 center recruit in the class of 2015 according to 247 Sports. Thomas helped Lancaster to the Texas AAAAA championship and averaged 26 points and 14 rebounds per game as a senior in 2014-15.
