Tommy Bowden's prediction on Clemson-Auburn |
Former Clemson coach Tommy Bowden was on WNSP-FM 105.5 in Mobile, AL on Wednesday to give his thoughts on the upcoming game between Clemson and Auburn.
"They'll be a lot of players on the field (for Auburn)," Bowden said via AL.com. "I don't know if the right players will be in the key positions." Bowden said that Auburn is "still struggling at the quarterback position" and that is a "critical component of success" for any team. "They need Deshaun Watson is what they need or Cam Newton back," Bowden said. The former Clemson coach compared Saturday's contest with Clemson's 2008 game vs. Alabama where the Crimson Tide rolled over the Tigers 34-10. "It is a little different than Alabama and myself," he explained. "Alabama that year went undefeated, ran the table, and was a little more talented than we were - I should say a lot more talented. I think the talent will be a little more equal. In key positions, it will be critical, especially quarterback." Bowden finished up by delivering his prediction on the ACC-SEC matchup. "I think Clemson wins the game, but I don't think they'll put up 40 on Auburn like they did Alabama," Bowden said.
