NC State coaches called Swinney to apologize for incident with Watson

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney talked to the media for his weekly teleconference on Sunday and was asked about the awkward incident with quarterback Deshaun Watson and North Carolina State's running back coach Des Kitchings.

"I talked to the assistant. I talked to Coach Doeren afterwards. I was on the bus," Swinney said on his conference call. "Coach (Dave) Doeren has handled the situation and will handle his staff. There is not an issue. Des is a good guy. I have always had a lot of respect for him. He just got caught up in the moment. Let's move on. We all have bigger things to deal with than that."

Watson finished the game completing 23-30 passes for 383 yards and five touchdowns, and he also had 14 carries for 54 yards and a score.
