CLEMSON in the NFL

WATCH: Deon Cain preparing to stand out in NFL combine

by - Staff Writer -

Former Clemson receiver Deon Cain is set to compete in the NFL draft combine on Saturday, along with teammate Ray Ray McCloud.

Cain, who has received mock-draft ratings as high as a second-round pick, showed off his combine prep and talked about his road to pros with the Associated Press recently.

The Tampa product says he considered transferring after his suspension for the Playoffs in his freshman season, but he says everything worked out.

"Came in as a freshman and had a lot going on on the personal side," Cain told the AP. "I just had to figure out and mature myself. I'm actually glad that did happen because I could have run away from the situation and let it hunt me down if I'd went to another school."

Cain led the Tigers in receiving yards (734) and touchdowns (6) last season. He told the AP that he expects to run a 40-time that will turn some heads in Indianapolis, estimating "low 4.3s, 4.2s."
