Updated Clemson NCAA Regional projections

What a difference a week makes in a fluid NCAA-host bubble with about a month to selection time.

Baseball America and D1Baseball.com both knocked Clemson off a host bid in NCAA Tournament projections last week, sending the Tigers to Coastal Carolina.

But after a sweep at Wake Forest over the weekend, Baseball America moved the Tigers (30-11, 14-7 ACC) as high as 13th overall and a host - opposite NC State in a potential super regional.

“Clemson and Florida State move back into host position,” Baseball America writes, “replacing Duke and Kentucky. The Atlantic Coast Conference has five teams with hosting cases – Clemson, Duke, Florida State, North Carolina and North Carolina State. North Carolina State is just about locked in as a host and North Carolina has separated itself after moving into first place in the Coastal Division and rising to No. 6 in the RPI. Duke has the worst RPI of the three other teams and the hardest remaining schedule. That gave the edge to Clemson and Florida State.”

D1Baseball.com also has Clemson hosting now, at 15th overall, with Coastal Carolina heading to Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

After Tuesday’s win over Kennesaw State, Clemson is up to No. 15 in the RPI rankings.

The Tigers host Presbyterian (13-29; 258 RPI) Wednesday before a road series at Virginia (24-17; 76 RPI) this weekend.
