NCAA projections: Clemson moves up, paired with South Carolina

by - Staff Writer -

Clemson continued its move up in the latest NCAA Tournament projections.

Baseball America vaulted Monte Lee's Tigers four spots to the No. 4 national seed, hosting South Carolina (28-19) as a 2-seed and opposite NC State's Raleigh regional. D1Baseball.com projected the Palmetto rivals together as well Wednesday with Clemson as a No. 7 national seed.

Clemson (36-12, 19-8 ACC) and South Carolina were last paired in a regional in 2013, when Clemson was placed in the Columbia Regional. The Tigers and Gamecocks never met each other in that regional, however, after a Clemson opener loss to Liberty.

The Tigers are up to No. 7 in the RPI rankings after taking the series over Florida State on Monday.

Clemson returns to action Wednesday night at home versus Western Carolina (6-39) and then hosts Austin Peay (28-20) on the weekend.
