Former Clemson OT picks new school |
Former Clemson offensive lineman
Jake Fruhmorgen has decided to enroll at Baylor University for the Fall semester. TigerNet spoke with sources close to Fruhmorgen and he will have to sit out this season and then he will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Fruhmorgen decided to leave the football program at the University of Florida back in June after a very short stay during the summer session. He did not go through a workout or a class during his time in Gainesville. He also made the decision to transfer from Clemson in early January and told TigerNet back in March that Florida was the best fit for him football-wise. "It's just the best place for me. I built a great relationship with the coaches at Florida and it is the best fit," Fruhmorgen said. The 6-5, 290-pounder had seven knockdowns in 245 snaps over 11 games (one start) as a true freshman in 2015 and took over as the starting right tackle last spring. Fruhmorgen started the first eight games of the season but suffered a shoulder injury that kept him out after the Florida St. game. A few weeks later, head coach Dabo Swinney said Fruhmorgen had left the team to deal with personal issues. Before Clemson, he played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl; played offensive tackle in high school, but played center and offensive guard in the game. He was the No. 73 player and No. 16 offensive tackle in the nation by 247Sports.com (23rd-best signee entering the ACC), the No. 89 player and No. 8 offensive tackle in the nation and No. 18 player in Florida by Rivals.com, the No 93 player and No. 7 offensive tackle in the nation and No. 18 player in Florida by ESPN. He led his team to an 11-2-1 record as a junior.
