Dabo Swinney responds to Muschamp's 'Real Death Valley' comments |
Smack talk can be fun sometimes in heated rivalries.
South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp was the featured guest at the Gaston County Sports Hall of Fame on Monday night and threw a jab at rival Clemson with the following comment. "We were at the REAL Death Valley, not the one somewhere else," Muschamp said about his time at LSU from 2001-2004. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney was asked about the played-out comment while at the Charleston County Prowl & Growl event on Thursday night. "No (comment)...we will keep working on it. We have lost about two games in about five years so we'll pick it up and keep working hard and see if we can get a little better," Swinney said with a grin. "I like the Death Valley that I am at. I love right where I am. It's a great place and unbelievable environment and thankful that I get a chance to go to work their every day." Classy remarks by Swinney and excellent coaching move by not taking the bait on Muschamp's comment. A National Championship coach doesn't have to swim in those muddy waters to fire up his fanbase. Former Gamecock coach Steve Spurrier also used to throw his classic one-liners about Death Valley during his time coaching in the rivalry. "Most our players have never been to Death Valley (LSU)," Spurrier said. "That is the Death Valley, isn’t it? Is there another one around?" Clemson will meet South Carolina on Nov. 24.
