#33 - Kavell Connor

MLB 6-2 228 pounds

Midlothian, Virginia

While John Lovett was the defensive coordinator at Clemson, he was not known for his efforts on the recruiting trail. However, he may have left Clemson with a very nice parting gift. Kavell Connor was originally recruited to Clemson by Lovett, but he was locked up by the current staff after Lovett's dismissal.

Connor was a running back in high school, in fact he set the career rushing record at Manchester High School. It was no surprise that Connor redshirted last season. His move up the depth chart this spring has been a little surprise to most.

The coaching staff quietly talked about Connor last fall, as he made progressions during his redshirt season. Now, Connor has ascended to #2 on the depth chart behind Anthony Waters.

The move of Antonio Clay to SAM linebacker opened the door for Connor. Connor pounced on the opportunity and quickly jumped Cortney Vincent on the dpeth chart.

Connor brings good size, speed, and athleticism to the position. Connor will have a chance to learn from one of the best linebackers in the country this year behind Waters. On Saturday, he will get his chance to show the Clemson faithful what he can do. Connor could be a sleeper to steal the show on defense Saturday, depending on how many reps the staff wants to give Waters.
