Update on Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Ticket Distribution Policy

Clemson, SC-The Clemson Athletic Department has announced its plans for ticket distribution for the 2004 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. The Tigers will meet sixth-ranked Tennessee in the game that will be played January 2nd at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

This year's demand for tickets from Clemson fans is the greatest since 1982, when 40,000 Clemson fans purchased tickets to the Orange Bowl, a game that Clemson won to claim its first ever National Championship.

The Clemson ticket office has received requests for over 34,000 tickets to the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, considerably above the tickets provided for sale by the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. In working with the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl staff, the ticket office has been able to secure 20,014 tickets to the event, over 4,000 more tickets than the University of Tennessee, and over 2,500 more than Clemson's initial allotment.

This is just the second year since 1982 that Clemson has been in a situation where the demand for bowl tickets exceeds the supply provided by the bowl. Previously, Clemson has been able to secure additional tickets from the bowl or the opposition. Additional tickets are not available from either source this year. The 2004 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl is sold out at all sources.

Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl corporate sponsors and customers have purchased the remaining 36,000 tickets.

"The response of Clemson fans makes a strong statement in the bowl community, and we appreciate the tremendous interest," said Ticket Manager and Associate Athletic Director Van Hilderbrand. "Although we will not be able to fill all the orders we have received, we want to thank the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl committee for their efforts to provide us with as many tickets as possible."

As has been Clemson's practice over the past decade, orders will be filled in order of priority points. IPTAY points are determined by applying a formula based on the level of contribution, length of time in the IPTAY program, and the total amount of lifetime giving.

Current estimates indicate that ticket orders from IPTAY customers with at least 90 points, as of June 30, 2003, will be processed. An analysis will be completed next Tuesday, December 16, to confirm the points level for distribution.

Refunds for customers whose orders cannot be filled will begin as soon as they are determined. The process of refunds for general public orders, which include individuals with no IPTAY standing, will begin before the weekend.

Clemson faculty/staff season ticket holders and Clemson students have received 2,800 of the 20,014 tickets allotted to the institution. To purchase Clemson vs. South Carolina football tickets for the 2003 season, the cut off was 90 points. To purchase 2003 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's basketball tickets, the cut off was 198 points.
