by -

OFFENSIVE BACK - Chris Weinke, QB, Florida State

Weinke, a 6-5, 229-poured senior from St. Paul, Minn-, set the Florida state single

game passing record with 563 yards against Duke on Saturday. Weinke completed

37 of 47 passes for five touchdowns and became the ACC's all-time leader in TD

passes with 66. Weinke leads the nation in passing yardage (2,510) arid touchdown-passes

(20) and moved up to sixth place on the ACC in career passing yards with 8,182

yards.

OFFENSIVE LINEMEN - Chris Brown, LT, Georgia Tech

Brown was Georgia Tech's top-performing offensive lineman in the Yellow Jackets'

52-20 victory over Wake Forest. A 6-6, 215-pound red-shirt senior from Augusta,

Ga., Brown helped pave the way for the jackets to gain 578 yards of total offense,

the seventh best total in school history. Georgia Tech also recorded season-highs

for passing yards (333) and rushing yards (245). Brown graded 90 percent with

four domination blocks against the Demon Deacons as he helped Tech record its

third-highest point total in an ACC game.

DEFENSIVE LINEMAN - Chad Carson, LB, Clemson

Carson, a 6-3, 235-pound junior from Newnan, Ca., led the Clemson defense with

16 tackles in the win over Maryland. Carson had 11 primary hits and five assists

to tie his career high. Clemson's defense held the Terps to just 82 rushing

yards and 179 passing yards in the 35-19 victory. Carson had two tackles for

losses, a sack and a quarterback pressure in recording his top game of the season.

DEFENSIVE BACK - Alex Ardley, CB, Clemson

Ardley tied a Clemson record with three interceptions in the 35-14 win over

Maryland. The 5-10, 170-pound junior from Tallahassee, Fla., had returns of

29, 32 and no yards on his three thefts. He became just the fourth player in

Clemson history to record three interceptions in one game. He also helped in

other areas, as he had six tackles and three passes broken up and was a key

factor in Maryland completing only 8-of-22 pass attempts.

SPECIALIST - Ronnie Hamilton, CB, Duke

Hamilton, a 5-8, 175-pound junior from Oxford, N.C., returned a Florida State

punt 84 yards for a touchdown early in the third quarter, putting the Blue Devils'

first points of the game on the scoreboard. Hamilton currently ranks third in

the ACC and 12th in the nation in punt returns, averaging 14.1 yards per return.

ROOKIE - Philip Rivers, QB, NC State

Rivers, a true freshman quarterback from Athens, Ala., got the Wolfpack off

to a 7-O lead in the first quarter when he caught Bryan Pererson's 19-yard,

double-reverse flanker pass for a touchdown. In the second quarter, Rivers and

Peterson hooked up again, this time with Rivers passing to Peterson for a 10-yard

TD that gave the Wolfpack a 17-7 lead. Rivers completed 13 of 25 passes for

202 yards and one TD against the Tar Heels and has now thrown for at least 200

yards and one touchdown in all six games this season. It was Rivers' sixth Rookie

of the Week honor for the 2000 season.
