Top 2013 WR impressed with Clemson offense

View Full Profile of Butler (Matthews, NC) High School should be one of the Southeast’s top wide receiver prospects in 2013, and indeed already holds offers from Auburn, Clemson, Florida St., Georgia, UCLA and Virginia Tech.

The super sophomore (6-1, 200) took visits to just three schools this spring – Auburn, Georgia and Clemson – and he told TigerNet this week that the Clemson Tigers have already made an impression.

“I love their new offense they are starting to run,” Lemay said. “They are running that up-tempo and it keeps everybody on their toes. I love it when the offense is rapid, and where they mix in the run and the pass. But the pregame rituals there just blew me out of the water. I love how they take players around the stadium, and then they go and touch the rock and run down the hill. It gives you chill bumps and gets you excited just to think about. I am going to try and go to a night game this year – maybe FSU.”

Lemay’s older brother is quarterback Christian Lemay, who committed to the University of Georgia in the recent recruiting class, but Uriah says he doesn’t necessarily have to go to the same place as Christian.

“That is not a heavy, weighing factor for me,” he said. “I don’t have to go where he is going. It still carries a little bit of weight because he is my brother, but I am going to go around to all of the other schools and see which one would be the best fit for me.”

He said the school he picks will have to have a number of attributes, and that Clemson’s offense fit his skills and is similar to what is run at Butler.

“The school I pick doesn’t necessarily have to be a spread offense, but I am leaning toward going to where they run the spread,” he said. “I also want to go to a school that helps keep me academically intact and keep my head focused. I don’t want them to give me anything – I want them to make me work for it. It also has to be some place that will be like home for me and my family. I want them to feel like they are at home when they come to visit me.”

Lemay said he isn’t ready to name a list of his favorites, and will wait until he has taken more visits.

“I can't really put a top list together right now because I haven’t been to all of the schools,” he said. “I want to get around to everybody. If you limit yourself to a few schools, then you are acting on impulse alone. You have to weigh the pros and cons and the way the offense is run.”
