Tommy Bowden Sunday Teleconference

Quick notes and quotes from Tommy Bowden's regular Sunday teleconference:

- We didn't play well. It seems like when we had passes open we missed them. When they were thrown properly we dropped them. We didn't function at any position well, top to bottom. Credit Ga. Tech. They're a good team. But we malfunctioned in about every area. They had nothing to do with dropped balls.

- The did bring some guys and get some pressure. Couple of times it was line's fault. Couple of times it was back's fault.

- What I've got to do a good job of is correct mistakes and keep trying to get better. I also have to keep in perspective it's just one loss, a conference loss but not a division loss. Still seven games left. Still a lot out there. It's a fine line you walk. Not happy with the way we played, but there's a lot of teams that would like to be 4-1.

- Punt block was technique of a particular player. The blocker wasn't sound.

- Buchholz has missed six kicks the last two games. Got to sit down and make sure we're handling him right. This is uncharted waters. There's a happy medium, and we can reach it. Do we need to keep him around practice longer? Maybe throw him in during period 12 and have him kick, like we would a game. Then 30 minutes later maybe put him back in again, like we would a game. Trevor and I will work it out.

- I like two-sport athletes. It keeps our sport in the papers year round.

- Laying one egg out of five games against a very good defense isn't all that bad. Then you have all those dropped balls. That's probably the most I've had since I've been here. But I think it's something we can correct.

- No. 1 concern coming out the game is special teams. Then lack of productivity of the offense.

- Not real concerned about rushing attack. Have to throw the ball successfully against a defense like that to loosen them up for the run.

- Clemson defensive back Haydrian Lewis suffered a torn ACL against Georgia Tech and will be lost for the season. He is not eligible for a medical hardship because this was his fifth game of the year.
