CLEMSON, SC -- The top quarterback in Missouri, Ryan Cubit, committed to the Clemson on Sunday night. The 6-foot-3, 198-pound Cubit announced his decision to commit to the Tigers on a Missouri television news show by putting on a Clemson hat.

Cubit passed for 600 yards and 9 touchdowns in an injury plagued senior season for Hickman High School in Columbia, MO. In his first two games, Cubit had thrown for 405 yards before injuring his hand. Cubit returned, but later his season ended when he tore cartilage in his left knee and arthrscopic surgery was necessary.

As a junior, Cubit passed for 18 touchdowns and more than 1,800 yards at Portage Central High in Michigan.

Cubit was recruited by Clemson assistant Rick Stockstill. Stockstill and Cubit’s father, Bill, became good friends on the staff at Central Florida in 1985. This season Bill Cubit was the offensive coordinator for Missouri but was not retained after head coach Larry Smith was fired.

Cubit chose the Tigers over Purdue, Illinois, Missouri, and NC State. Cubit will officially visit the Clemson campus on January 12.
