Tiger Source Preview: McKissic Makes the Grade

by - Correspondent -

According to sources, Opelika, AL defensive lineman Jacquez McKissic has officially made the grade and will report to Clemson on December 12. Reports earlier this month that McKissic had qualified were erroneous. McKissic just received the necessary score on Tuesday.

"Great news for the Tigers," said Tiger Source Chief Editor Mickey Plyler. "They battled NC State all the way past signing day. There was some concern that Auburn and NC State could get back in the mix. Add him with Dorrel Scott and Rashaad Jackson that gives the Tigers three freshmen defensive lineman to work with in the spring and that will do a lot for the depth of the defensive line next season."

Attempts to reach McKissic today were unsuccessful. We will have an interview with him tomorrow.

Here is the bio on McKissic:

Jacquez McKissic, a 6-7, 263-pound defensive lineman from Opelika, AL, signed a national letter of intent with the Clemson football program in February. McKissic was the 26th member of Tommy Bowden's sixth class of signees. McKissic played for Spence McCracken at Opelika High School in Alabama. He was a teammate of Clemson 2004 signee Adrian Kindred. McKissic had 43 tackles, eight sacks and an interception last year as the starting nose guard on a defense that allowed just 37 points in 12 games. It was his second season as a starter for Opelika High.

McKissic was one of four players from the state of Alabama that Coach Dabo Swinney signed last season. We will try and have full follow up from McKissic later in the week.
