Three Tigers Inducted into SC Athletic Hall of Fame

COLUMBIA, SC-Clemson Basketball great Larry Nance, Tiger football star,

Jeff Davis, and longtime Clemson Sports Information Director Bob Bradley

were inducted into the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame Thursday night,

April 26, in Columbia, SC.

Larry Nance is an Anderson, SC native and was a star on Clemson's 1979-80

team that advanced to the NCAA final eight. He is 12th in Clemson history

for most points scored in a career (1,341) and is seventh in Clemson

history for most rebounds (784). He won the first NBA Slam Dunk contest

in 1984, and made the NBA All-Star team three times. He played for the

Phoenix Suns and the Cleveland Cavaliers during his 13-year NBA career.

Jeff Davis earned first team All-America honors in 1981 and was named

defensive MVP of the 1982 Orange Bowl where Clemson won the National

Championship. Davis has the third best career tackles mark with 469, has

the most caused fumbles in a career (10) and most career recovered fumbles

(8). He went on to play six seasons for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, four as

team co-captain. Clemson named Davis to its Hall of Fame in 1989 and to

its Ring of Honor in 1995.

Bob Bradley, long-time Sports Information Director at Clemson who passed

away last fall, spread good will and publicity of Clemson University

wherever he went. He became the standard by which sports information

directors are measured.

Bradley served as sports information director at Clemson from 1955-1989, a

third four year period in which he received virtually every award

attainable in his field. His work ethic and his quick wit were legendary.

He worked 502 consecutive Clemson football games between 1955-2000. He

worked 313 ACC Basketball Tournament games and was the official scorer for

every Tournament between 1967 and 1992. In 1988, the Clemson Memorial

Stadium Press Box was named in his honor.

Other honorees inducted into the S.C. Athletic Hall of Fame Thursday

included Sheila Foster (Women's Basketball Player, University of South

Carolina), Dickie Harris (Football Player, University of South Carolina,

CFL Standout), John Kresse (Basketball Coach, College of Charleston), and

Sterling Sharpe (Football Player, University of South Carolina and Green

Bay Packers).
