Thank the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl!

It’s been over a week now since the Tigers were invited to the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl to be held on Friday, January 2nd in the Georgia Dome. Clemson fans have responded in typical fashion. First, the bowl’s staff was inundated with thousands of phone calls, faxes and e-mails prior to the official invitation and secondly, Tiger fans, in the days immediately following selection, bought all the tickets that were available through the bowl’s office and official website. A great job was done by all.

Obviously, the Clemson family has shown its appreciation at the box office. However, we think we’ve got a unique – yet familiar – idea for further thanking Chick-fil-A and the Peach Bowl for selecting Clemson, while at the same time emphasizing why it was a great idea that they did. The TigerNet staff has selected Friday, December 12th and Saturday, December 13th as “Clemson Days” at Chick-fil-A. The idea is for all Clemson fans try to eat at least once at Chick-fil-A on these chosen days – and pay with $2 bills. (And no, we’re not getting a kick-back from Chick-fil-A for this!) We just thought it would be a great way to thank the Peach Bowl’s title sponsor, and to show how many Tiger fans live throughout the Southeast and nation. As one TigerNet member expressed after the South Carolina game, we’ve already proven that we “eat mor chikin.”

Additionally, we thought it might be appropriate to directly thank the members of the Peach Bowl staff. You know – all those people that got buried in the avalanche of phone calls, faxes, and e-mails last week, as they were preparing to invite a team! The bowl’s address is below if you want to send them a Christmas card, candy, fruit basket, or any other proper item. We think it would be a good way for Tiger fans to prove once again why Clemson is every bowl staff’s dream participant.

Speaking of dream participants…as mentioned above, Tiger fans have already done a great job by snapping up all the tickets available through the bowl itself. As a result, it seems pretty safe to say that at least 25,000 Clemson fans will be in Atlanta on January 2nd. But, when you think about it, we’ve got a rare opportunity to do a lot more. A Friday afternoon kick-off, a holiday beforehand, a weekend afterward, only a two-hour trip from TigerTown, and a big-name opponent that we’ve beaten to the punch already on ticket sales, adds up to great chance to, well, make a statement. There’s no reason why we can’t have 40,000+ Tiger fans at this game – and in the process remind the college football world that Clemson is still the king when it comes to bowling.

It’s well known that the barometer that bowl staffs use in measuring fan support is the number of tickets bought through the school itself. This Friday is the deadline for ordering IPTAY tickets through the Clemson Ticket Office. If you are reading this story and you don’t have tickets – now’s the time. This 8-4 Clemson team with impressive wins over Florida State, South Carolina, Georgia Tech and Virginia may be the most underappreciated Tiger team in recent memory. It’s time to get all the Tiger fans back on the bandwagon. Haven’t seen your Uncle Joe from Charleston at a game in years? Bring him! What about your old roommate, Bill, from Greenville? Bring him! What about your cousin, Joel, from Saluda? Bring him!
