Tennessee RB breaks down top schools, why Clemson is on the list |
One of the best running backs out of the state of Tennessee for the 2018 recruiting cycle released his top schools Sunday afternoon, and Clemson made the cut despite not yet extending an offer.
Master Teague, a 4-star out of Murfreesboro (TN) Blackman, tweeted out a group that included Auburn, Duke, Georgia, Louisville, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt. All of those schools have offered, but Teague had more to add to the list. Teague said that national heavyweights Alabama, Clemson, LSU, and Ohio St. are all recruiting him and made the list, and those schools joined his list of offers. Clemson running backs coach Tony Elliott invited Teague for a visit to campus, and Teague made the trip to see Clemson’s new football operations center in person. “I think it was a great visit and it was well worth it. I think I got to see everything - the facilities and the campus,” Teague told TigerNet. “What I enjoyed the most was when Coach (Dabo) Swinney talked to all of the recruits about how he runs the program. And when I got to talk to the running backs coach (Tony Elliott) at the end, that's what's stood out the most.” Why hasn’t Clemson extended an offer? The Tigers are looking at a small recruiting class, and Elliott told Teague he wants to make sure the Tigers take the right back. “He said he wants to get to know us. There are four guys he's looking at, and he wants to go to each of their spring practices,” Teague said. “He said he'll come to one of my spring practices so he can see how I run and how I move. He said if he likes what he sees that he could offer. He was just telling us that he believes God will lead the right player to him.” Teague said he was amazed at Clemson’s new facility. “It was crazy when we went to the weight room because it's huge,” he said. “That was one of the things that stood out to me. It was cool that you can look at the practice field while you're working out and they can work out the whole team at one time if they want.” Despite growing up in Tennessee, Teague says he knows all about the Tigers. “I know a lot. They're a good program,” he said. “I've been watching them play for a few years and if they were to offer, I'd be excited. It would be a great offer to get. I want to make a decision near the end of summer or before the season starts." What is he looking for in a school? "Just somewhere that I feel at home and a place that I can grow spiritually and as a player and get a good education," Teague said. "The program has success and a history. I also want to get involved with different organizations like Christian organizations or get involved in a church. Somewhere that I can build relationships with people that will last a long time." He then gave a self-scouting report. "My style is one cut and go. North and south," he said. "I don't try to move around a whole lot. I just try to get to the end zone as fast as possible." As a junior, Teague rushed for 2,031 yards and 24 touchdowns on 242 carries (8.4 yards per carry). He went to Auburn last month and has also taken trips to Ohio State, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Louisville. Top 12 Enjoyed my day at Clemson University!
