Sadat Chambers Looking Forward to Changing Positions

Sadat Chambers

Defensive Back

Central High (Pageland, SC)

5’11, 185 pounds

As a high school player, Sadat Chambers was one of the top running backs in the state. As a junior, he rushed for over 1,000 as a running back/quarterback for Central, and his 202-yard, two-touchdown effort helped his team claim the 2-A state title.

But Chambers, who chose Clemson over South Carolina and Virginia Tech, will be on the other side of the ball in college.

“I am really looking forward to it,” Chambers said. “I think the team is going to improve on last year, and I am hoping to get some playing time right away and help make a difference. I will red-shirt if I have to, but I have been told that I have a chance to start at free safety or defensive back.”

Chambers, who has qualified academically, has been working out three times a week, and reported to campus on July 5.

“I wanted to get there early so I can get a jump on everything,” Chambers said.

Chambers position coach, Vic Koenning, has talked to him about making the adjustment from offense to defense.

“He has talked to me a lot about changing positions,” Chambers said. “That is another reason I want to get to Clemson early. I want to learn as much as I can.”
