CLEMSON RECRUITING

Recruiting: Darlington Offensive Lineman Set To Visit Clemson

by -

Nygel Pierson - Offensive lineman, Darlington High School (Darlington High School). 6'6", 295 lbs.

After winning just a single game last season, the Darlington High football team showed signs of turning the program back in the right direction this year, finishing with a 6-6 record and advancing to the second round of the 3-A state playoffs.

A big reason for Darlington's success was offensive lineman Nygel Pierson. And although his high school career is over, his playing days aren't.

Pierson is being recruited by Clemson, Maryland, Georgia Tech, Duke, Coastal Carolina, South Carolina State, Princeton, UT-Chattanooga, and Memphis. He has received offers from Coastal, UTC, Princeton, and S.C. State, and feels that Clemson will offer in the near future. According to Mickey Plyler, Pierson has jumped other prospects on the Tigers' wishlist for the offensive line in recent weeks.

Although Pierson isn't leaning towards any school right now, he has been impressed with Clemson.

"I like the coaches and it seems like a great environment to play college football in," Pierson said. "It is also a good academic school."

Pierson will visit Clemson on January 9th, and South Carolina State on January 24th.

"I am hoping to make my decision by the end of January, but if I find a place that I really like, I may decide sooner."

Pierson has been visited in his home by Coach Burton Burns and Coach Ron West of Clemson, and Coach Buddy Pugh of South Carolina State.
