Kickoff Set for Bowden Bowl VI |
Clemson - Game time for Bowden Bowl VI, the annual football contest between Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden and his son Tommy Bowden, the head coach at Clemson, on Saturday, September 25, has been set for 3:30 p.m. The game will be televised regionally from Doak Campbell Stadium on ABC.
Prior to the game, the dedication of a new statue and plaza will take place outside the new Moore Athletic Center in front of University Center D. A larger-than-life figure will be unveiled when the bronze sculpture of coach Bowden is unveiled. Bobby Bowden has a 4-1 lead over his son Tommy who gained his first Bowden Bowl victory in 2003, a 26-10 triumph in which the Clemson defense held Florida State to 11 yards rushing, fewest by a Bobby Bowden-coached Florida State team. Clemson had lost 11 in a row to Florida State prior to that Clemson victory last year. Clemson’s last win in Tallahassee took place in 1989, Danny Ford’s final season as Clemson head coach.
