STRAIGHT LINE
Though its plane was almost an hour late departing Wednesday, Clemson's
traveling party made the non-stop flight from Greenville to Boise in four
hours.
Approximately 250 people, including 111 players, made up the initial Clemson
contingent. The band and cheerleaders are due in town Friday, about the same
time many Tigers' fans are expected to begin showing up.

HOLY AU JUS BATMAN
Clemson's first official function in Boise was Wednesday's team dinner at the
Black Angus Steakhouse.
The dinner also doubled as Clemson's entry into the Beef Bowl. Three players
- T.J. Watkins, Greg Walker and Tommy Sharpe - combined to eat nearly 200
ounces of prime rib. Walker alone ate six 16 ounce cuts of the meat.
Three players from Louisiana Tech will try and top that figure this
afternoon.
BLADE RUNNER
Senior guard Will Merritt is one of the few Clemson players with extensive
skiing experience, so the cold weather and snow was nothing new to him.
In fact, those conditions are about to become a major part of Merritt's life.
He and his wife are moving to Beaver Creek, Colorado, in mid-January to begin
employment at a ski resort.
Merritt did say, however, that he wasn't completely turning his back on a
football future.
"If an opportunity to play in the pros came along, I'd look at it for sure,"
he said.
OFF GUARD
Workers at Broncos Stadium were forced to cease field preparations because of
Wednesday's snow.
The huge rolls of turf which cover the end zones had to be covered and
abandoned on each end of the field. The playing surface was covered with a
thermal tarp, which will keep the field from freezing or taking on excessive
moisture.
MASS MEDIA
Merritt, Sharpe, linebacker Chad Carson, quarterback Woody Dantzler and
administrative assistant Andy Johnston all did guest spots on KTIK's (AM
1350) Idaho SportsTalk with Jeff Caves during Wednesday night's dinner.
