Clemson All-Americans Keith Adams and Robert Carswell

were both selected in the seventh and final round of the NFL draft in

New York on Sunday. They joined Rod Gardner, a first-round

selection of the Washington Redskins, as Clemson players who were

chosen in the 2001 draft. All three were roomates at Clemson during

the 2000 season.

Adams was the seventh round pick of the Tennessee Titans, the

232nd selection of the draft. Carswell was the 244th pick of the

draft, just two selections from the final pick. Carswell went to the

San Diego Chargers.

Adams, who left Clemson after his junior year to enter the

draft, was the first Tiger drafted by the Titans franchise since

Tracy Johnson was chosen by the then Houston Oilers in 1989.

Carswell will join former Tiger teammate Adrian Dingle with the

Chargers.

Adams and Carswell are both natives of Georgia and both were

first-team All-ACC in 2000. Adams was a first-team Associated Press

All-American this past year when he recorded 146 tackles and 19

tackles for loss. He had an ACC record 35 tackles for loss and 186

tackles as a sophomore in 1999.

Carswell was a third-team AP All-American and left Clemson

with the school mark for tackles in a career by a defensive back

with 372. He had eight career interceptions, three of which were

passes thrown by Michael Vick, the number-one selection in the NFL

draft from Virginia Tech.
