View Full Profile picked up the fourth commitment of the 2014 class when Central (SC) Daniel running back Jae’lon Oglesby committed Saturday during Swinney’s camp.

Daniel offensive line coach Jamie Wilson - who was attending camp with Oglesby - said that the Tigers are getting a player with the determination to play any position.

“He can play. Whether he’s a running back, a defensive back, a receiver, or a safety, he can play,” Wilson told TigerNet Saturday afternoon. “It is in his blood to play. He’s just got that grit. He’s a little different. Daniel has been known to send kids to Clemson and they just got another one. Now we have to start working on the 2015 class.”

Clemson has received a commitment from Daniel High School each year for the last five years.

Oglesby was receiving interest from South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Alabama, Notre Dame and Penn State, but Clemson was his first official offer, and it didn’t take him long to realize that Clemson was where he wanted to play college football.

“I pretty much made my mind up Thursday when I got the offer,” Oglesby said. “I’ve always dreamed of playing here. It’s my favorite team, and I grew up in Clemson. I told Coach [Chad] Morris and Coach Dabo this morning.”

Ogelsby rushed for 1,750 yards, 28 touchdowns and averaged over eight yards per carry as a sophomore for the Lions.

Wilson said that Oglesby’s success can be attributed to his vision and being able to see the hole before it opens.

“It makes it easy because of his vision,” Wilson said. “He sees the hole before we make it. When you run the zone, which is what we run, the back has to really see those holes. A lot of times you aren’t going to get them because the defense will run a slant or different coverages from the defense. He sees the holes like he anticipates it before we ever open it.”

And, it’s no surprise to Wilson that Oglesby will play Division I football.

“We knew it when he was 12 years old,” Wilson said. “We knew it in little league when all of these guys were playing together. They’ve all played together since they were six years old. He’s always been our running back and we always knew he was going to play, we just didn’t know where.”
