Clemson Headed to Crucial.com Humanitarian Bowl

Clemson, SC-Clemson accepted an invitation to the Crucial.com

Humanitarian Bowl Tuesday. The Tigers will play Louisiana Tech in

the contest that will be played in Boise, ID. The contest will

kickoff at 12:30 PM Eastern time on December 31st and will be

televised by ESPN.

This will be the first meeting between Clemson and Louisiana

Tech, but the Tigers are scheduled to play Louisiana Tech in the

second game of the 2002 season on September 7th at Clemson. Clemson

enters the Crucial.com Humanitarian Bowl with a 6-5 record, while

Louisiana Tech is 7-4.

This will be Clemson's 25th bowl appearance, the third

consecutive year the Tigers have been in a bowl and the 14th bowl

trip in the last 17 years. Head coach Tommy Bowden is the first

coach to take Clemson to a bowl game each of his first three years

with the school.

Both Clemson and Louisiana Tech have had productive offenses

this year. Led by quarterback Woodrow Dantzler, the Tigers averaged

421 yards per game in total offense. Dantzler ranks eighth in the

nation in total offense with 305 yards per game. Louisiana Tech

averages 422 yards per game and is led by quarterback Luke McCown,

who is fourth in the nation in total offense with 316.4 yards per

game. Clemson averages 29 points per game, while Louisiana Tech

averages 34.7 yards per outing.
