Tommy Bowden Press Conference (30:00) Biggest improvements Clemson needs to make after The Citadel game "Offensive line technique and intensity are definately areas that need improvement. We had five penalties on punt coverage so that needs to be corrected. Also, we need better execution from our second team offense. Last year, we struggled to be consistent from week to week on an offense and defense so we will see this Saturday if we can be more consistent on a weekly basis." The tempo of the offense against The Citadel "The objective of our offense is to go as fast as you possibly can all the time and give yourself the opportunity to make the correct checks at the line of scrimmage. The tempo on Saturday was pretty good but it can be sped up. This is really Woody's first year of running the offense on his own, so there is still room to execute at a higher efficiency level." Missouri's All-American defensive end Justin Smith "I do not know if one guy can block him. We will have to devise some schemes to where he is matched up against more than just one of our guys. You do not have to watch much film to see just how impressive he is as a player. He is very athletic, but I think his biggest asset his intensity. His motor runs at a very high level and that is what separates him from everyone else. He reminds me of Keith Adams because he lines up all over the field and he really gets your attention." Getting the opportunity to play a team from the Big 12 conference: "The Big 12 is a very respected conference and Missouri is going to eventually play teams like Nebraska, Texas, and Kansas State, so we will get the opportunity to see where we are in relation to those teams. Our players want to get to the level of those teams and playing a team from that conference will help them to know how far they still have to go to get to that level." Establishing dominance again in Death Valley: "We have only been here a year and half but you always like to be able to establish something that you can identify your program with. Winning at home was a tradition here in the past but we have kind of lost that dominance recently. We really want playing in Death Valley to get some respect from our opponents even before the game starts. Once the game starts you have to play and back it up, but it is a big advantage to have a vocal crowd behind you. The crowd for The Citadel game was very vocal and excited, and our team really fed off that. We need to have that type of environment before every game."
