GREENSBORO, N.C. -- North Carolina's Jason Capel was tabbed as
the ACC Player of the Week while Clemson's Tony Stockman was selected
as the ACC Rookie of the Week in voting by a select panel of the
Atlantic Coast Conference Sportswriters Association (ACSWA).

Capel earns Player of the Week recognition as he became just the
second player in Tar Heel history to record a triple-double. The 6-8,
230-pound junior from Fayetteville, N.C., scored 16 points, grabbed 11
rebounds and made 10 assists in the Tar Heels' 95-74 win over Buffalo on
Sunday. Capel helped North Carolina set the pace early in the game as he
assisted on five of the team's first nine baskets. He also added two
steals in the win and committed just one turnover. With Capel's
triple-double, North Carolina became the first school in ACC history to
have two different players record a triple-double in the same season.
Brendan Haywood recorded the Tar Heels' first triple-double in a 67-45
win over Miami on Monday, Dec. 4.

Clemson's Tony Stockman earns the ACC Freshman of the Week honor
after leading the Tigers past Wofford on Saturday. Stockman, a 6-2 guard
from Medina, Ohio, led all scorers with 23 points as Clemson downed
Wofford, 78-74. His 23 points were the most by a Clemson freshman since
Terrell McIntyre scored 29 during the 1995-96 season. Stockman connected
on 9-of-17 shots from the field, including 4-of-7 on three-point shots,
in his 34 minutes of play. He also contributed three assists, three
rebounds and three steals in his finest all-around performance of the
season.
