Pairings Set for ACC Women's Basketball Tournament

GREENSBORO, NC - With a 13-3 regular season conference record,

Duke claimed the 2001 Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title.

The Blue Devils also claimed the No. 1 seed in the league's 24th annual

women's basketball tournament which begins Friday, March 2, at the

Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C.

This is the second year of a three-year stay at the Greensboro

Coliseum. This year's tournament is set to tip-off on Friday, March 2

and end Monday, March 5. The tournament schedule is as follows:

Friday: Game No. 1 - Seed # 7 North Carolina vs. Seed # 8 Georgia Tech, 6:00 p.m.

Game No. 2 - Seed # 1 Duke vs. Seed # 9 Wake Forest, 8:00 p.m.

Saturday: Game No. 3 - Seed # 4 Florida State vs. Seed # 5 Virginia, 2:00 p.m. (TV)

Game No. 4 - Seed # 7 or 8 vs. Seed # 2 Clemson, 4:30 p.m.

Game No. 5 - Seed # 3 NC State vs. Seed # 6 Maryland, 7:00 p.m.

Sunday: Game No. 6 - Winner of Game No. 2 vs. Winner of Game No.3, 1:00 p.m. (TV)

Game No. 7 - Winner of Game No. 4 vs. Winner of Game No.5, 3:30 p.m. (TV)

Monday: Game No. 8 - Championship Game, 7:30 p.m. (TV)

For the third straight year, the tournament will feature

expanded television coverage with four of the eight games to be

broadcast. The first quarterfinal game and both semifinal matchups will

be aired on the league's regional sports networks (Home Team Sports, FOX

Sports Net South and Sunshine Network). Monday's championship game will

be televised nationally by FOX Sports Net.
