CLEMSON - Scott Sturkie pitched a complete game to lead Coastal

Carolina to a 10-5 victory over Clemson before 2,132 fans at Doug

Kingsmore Stadium Tuesday night.

Clemson is now 21-13 and has lost five straight games, the longest

losing streak for the Tigers under head coach Jack Leggett. Coastal

Carolina moved to 20-13 with the win.

The Chanticleers got on the board early in the first inning. Leadoff

batter Ryan Mcgraw singled and stole two bases, pushing his season

total to 21. He scored two batters later on a ground out by Adam

Kiem. Clemson responded in the bottom of the inning with Jeff Baker's

home run to center field.

Coastal Carolina grabbed the lead for good in the second inning.

Randy McGarvey singled in a run and was followed by McGraw's RBI

double and Jon Humay's RBI triple to make the score 4-1. The Tigers

got a run back in the bottom of the inning when Zane Green's

sacrifice fly plated Jarrod Schmidt.

Chad Felty extended the lead in the third inning with a run-scoring

single and Luke Johnson's RBI double later in the inning made the

score 6-2. Clemson's Baker homered in the bottom of the inning to cut

the lead to 6-3. The towering blast to left field gave Baker his

ACC-leading 13th home run and his fourth two-homer game of the year.

The Chanticleers used doubles by Brandon Powell, Luke Johnson and

McGarvey along with a single by Chris Carter to put up three runs in

the fifth inning and grab a 9-3 lead, their largest of the game.

Khalil Greene hit a two-run home run, his fourth of the year, in the

seventh inning, but the Tigers would get no closer. Coastal Carolina

added a run in the eighth to cap the scoring.

Sturkie went the distance to earn the victory and improve to 6-4 on

the year for Coastal Carolina. Paul Harrelson dropped to 1-1 with the

loss for the Tigers.

Clemson and Coastal Carolina will finish their two-game set Wednesday

at 3:00 PM at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
