Clemson Meets Wofford on Diamond Tuesday Night

Clemson, SC--Clemson will return to Kingsmore Stadium for the first

time in 13 days on Tuesday night when the Tigers play host to

Wofford. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:15 PM. The game will

be broadcast locally on WGOG-FM radio (96.3).

Clemson enters the contest with a 17-7 overall record,

including a fast 5-1 start in the ACC. Jack Leggett's Tigers are

coming off a 2-1 series victory over a top 20 Wake Forest team this

past weekend. That included a convincing 9-1 win on Sunday in

Winston-Salem.

Clemson is expected to start Nick Glasser, a senior right

hander who has been troubled by injury so far this year. He has a

1-0 record, but has appeared in just four games for 9 2/3 innings. A

year ago he set a Clemson record for saves with 15.

Clemson's top hitter entering the contest with Wofford is

Michael Johnson. Clemson's first baseman has a .385 average with six

homers and a team best .754 slugging percentage. Casey Stone,

Clemson's starting left fielder, is next on the list with a .380

figure. He has also stolen 14 bases in 17 attempts. Jeff Baker is

hitting .361 with a team best eight home runs.

Wofford enters the game with a 10-13 record. The Terriers

won two out of three games at East Tennessee State this past weekend.

The top hitter for Wofford is Chris Cotugno, who has a .467 average

for the 18 games he has played. He is 21-45 at the plate. Chad

Livingston is a .330 hitters, while Lawson Burnat has a .328 batting

average. Tate Osterman is the top pitcher with a 3.50 ERA and a 5-2

record.

Clemson owns a 66-23-1 record against Wofford in a series

that dates to 1898. Wofford won the first meeting in Spartanburg

on May 7, 1898, just the seventh game played in Clemson baseball

history. Clemson won the last meeting, 12-4 in a game played at

Clemson on March 24, 1999.

Clemson will play at Georgia on Wednesday evening in a

contest that will begin at 6:30 PM. That game from Athens will be

broadcast on the Clemson Tiger Network.
